The Wife's View

Nicolas Simpson 1983 (Illinois)

She sits and tells stories,
Watching tons of ponies,
Sitting and hearing her explain things,
Her husband's phone rings,
Cars passing by,
On a day like today makes me wanna to cry,
Keeping hings in order,
And not crossing the border,
As I watch him sleep,
Its so quiet no sound of a peep,
Keeping sleep is peaceful off to lala land,
Don't touch me or my hand,
Sitting in a new chair,
Calm and collect with smooth hair,
Sleeping his day away,
On a day like today,
Fast a sleep on a cushion like hay,
He closes his little eyes and dreams away,
Enjoying his sleep in the hay,
The family dreams their stories,
The watch their cowboy movies,
And drifts off to sleep,
As her father stands over and watches,
She's protected by him,
That's his precious gem,
As her husband sits and waits for work,
He's calm and relax as he watches,
He's not being a jerk,
Sometimes she gets his catches,
I sit and watch out the window,
Like a widow  staring at her husband's shadow,
The car pulls up and off I go...........
