My How You've Grown

Lene' Mumaugh 1961 (Billings, Montana)

The silly giggles in the back yard
Are truly a special sound
The green on your knees are remnants
From the grass on your playground

Your new puppy kisses your sweet face
Loving you with all her might
There is no other friend
Who loves you just right

Hitting the baseball  as far as you can
With the new bat from your dad
The slide into home base skinned your knees
But didn't hurt all that bad

The extra two wheels on your bike
Still help you balance as you ride
You ask if maybe next week
Dad could remove them from each side

My how you've grown
The time goes by so fast
You've become a young man
You were my baby in the recent past
