Why do you only like me when I'm gone

CharlotteBrown 2007 (Massachusetts)

Why is it coincidental that every time I'm gone,
Why is it every time that you feel alone,
You rope me back,
Try to prevent an attack of emotion,

I just want to go on with my life and it freaking hurts,
I can't get over someone who just wants to be my friend,
And whenever I call them I start to cry when they hang up,
Because I have to remember that you wanted it to end,

I have to find new ways to cope,
I can't just sob and sleep and mope,

When I was leaving the first time you said that's how you knew,
Yet you said you knew it from the start,
I don't know if this whole thing is just a big lie,
Are you really going to take all of them until you die,

I am still in love with you,
But I shouldn't reminisce,
I shouldn't keep the past.
