The tunnel's light

Tristen 2002 (United States)

Devastation Desecration Destruction.
My Soul, Body, and mind.
My demons have been thorough.
My nights have been long.
My heart has been broke.
But it's hasn't been for not!

I remember still, the sun that used to shine.
I can still feel, the airs gentle breeze.
And I still recall, my heart's skipped beats.
Love.

Many have walked the path I walk.
Many have succumbed to the pain I've felt.
And many have given up when all seems lost.
Yet not I!

I fear not the darkness, of this tunnel.
I fear not the future, that remains unknown.
I fear not the pain, that I experience.
I fear of giving up.

Warmth perseverance Hope.
I hold what strengths I still have, close. And they warm my numbing soul.
I push myself even when I'm low, I could trip and fall at any time, but each step I make. I must make.
And during it all, blind in the darkness I still remember the light, and hope to feel it's warmth once more.
