Don't Compare Me

You compare as if you even match up
Draining people to fill your own cup
Just my luck to fall into your clutches
Your attention rots and destroys all it touches

So don't come back here looking for me
I'm not for you you've set me free
Stay in your lane where you love being
With all the red flags I ignored seeing

So much red I thought it was passion
My foolish heart she's one for compassion
All the red was screaming at me to stop
Stop falling stop falling it's a long drop

No one will be there to catch you
So many lies that I took to be true
My eyes are clearing up now
To everything I did allow

So take your meaningless words
Take the tactics you wield as swords
Keep your mess and all you are away
Before I'm just someone else to betray

I unburden myself of you and your bullshit
One step at a time I don't want to push it
You take my heart into your dirty hands
Heads or tails what will you do when it lands

I lost respect for myself engrossed in you
Gave and gave thought you wanted this too
But it was a fantasy a beautiful daydream
You're not real, a fake, not at all what you seem

You're a weaver of worlds and loves so great
Meant to be almost like it was destiny, fate
You sprinkle in some charm and emotion
Stir your selfishness and ego into the potion

You disguised yourself very well
It's just so sad that I couldn't tell
I'm gathering my strength to walk away
Karmas my lover that's the price I pay

It was eye opening to read a poem about how I use to be in my relationships. Thank you for bringing reality forward and exposing the destructive narcissistic behavior.
