Analysis of Elusive Hope
Joe Strickland 1986 (Hobbysville, SC)
sharp whine,
a razor's edge,
carves through flesh,
a crimson vow.
syringe's needle,
a cold cross,
dulls the pain,
a temporary peace.
flickers of light,
amidst the void,
hope's echo,
in despair's home.
but darkness lingers,
a heavy cloud,
enfolding dreams,
a haunting power.
sonic echoes,
a deathly ringing,
or whispers of wishes,
a fragile rune?
in this suite
of pain,
the answer lives,
an pending desist.
