In Broad Daylight
Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)
In broad and clear daylight.
Without a cloud to appear,
Approaching near the bluest of sky.
If my face to see it,
Artificially colorized to be orange.
As orange as a pumpkin is can be.
And I declared of having not only wealth.
But also status that sickens the elite.
Applauded I would be,
By those who supported my ability...
To fraud and deceive.
Although...
Laughed away from the gates of Heaven.
And sent back to perform that act,
In an alternate Universe.
Nowhere wanted to wish it found,
Eons beyond light years.
Where unseen spirits and deities,
Hope and pray this mindset stays...
Forever where discoveries never appear.
Yet...
For some ungodly reason,
This unsuspected phenomenon...
Remains known by the ones,
Masquerading to cover up...
Their own identities.
Under sheets at night.
But in broad daylight carry briefcases.
To hide and disguise the best they can,
An accepted 'suitability.
As your average Halloween creature.
Costumed to ignore on a daily basis.
And this deception has been successful.
As a routine that entertains.
Yet the unconscious,
Distant from common sense.
With thoughts to think to use.
Have shown to believe whatever they see,
On TV.
Is worth the price to pay,
For being the devoted fools...
They've been made.
As long as they are kept fed,
Addicted to a treatment.
They are convinced is an entitlement.
'Only fools will believe,
Abusing themselves is an entitlement.'
'You are just envious and jealous of us!'
'You have no idea,
How much I am saddened and grieved...
By the awareness,
Of your acknowledgement.'
'Keep the faith. Don't give up hope.
Who knows?
One day you too will be shown,
How many various ways...
You may be blessed to self destruct!'
'No!
My wish is to remain,
Not that envious.
And never ever that jealous.'
'I understand.
Patience I am told,
Has virtue to value.
Amongst those like yourself.
But me?
I ain't mad atchah. No!
Being privileged does have its 'perks'!
