Deliberating Honesty
Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)
Many living will still disagree,
As to whether or not...
Truth is an opinion.
Or an accepted part of life.
To be taught and kept believed.
Yet arguments start,
About the expense it takes...
Exploring the Universe to adventure,
Further into space.
When the Earth we inhibited,
Has us all living on it 'spaced out.
Now...
Does this analogy also apply,
To truth to delude it and honesty?
If someone is seen and caught,
Doing despicable deeds to others.
And confesses to be apologetic.
In a courtroom prepared and awaiting
To be sentence.
Then to be asked,
If sorry for the crimes and misdeeds.
They were caught observed.
And seen videotaped to do.
Or...
If they were apologizing for being caught.
Dramatically on videotape.
Not to know or be concerned,
Their face no one could mistake.
To hear them say and ask,
Of the judge, jury and a packed courtroom.
If possible...
A wish to deliberate their response,
And honesty.
With hired professional lawyers.
More experienced in lieing,
Than one accused is prepared to be!
Now...
For others who may claim,
That request is 'spaced out'?
They should immediately consider...
Just how far in space,
We all have been.
On a planet that rotates, floats and spins...
Around a Sun.
In a massive Universe.
No one knows how, why or when,
The beginning to see it happen.
Or listen to prophets,
Swearing but not under oath...
Declaring to know the end.
Without proof or evidence of it.
'When will all liars just admit they lie?
And stop their requests,
To deliberate reality!'
'Your Honour?'
'What, What...WHAT!?'
'Is that a yes or no?
