Changing Times
Changing Times.
How long can we stay afloat?
How long can we weather this storm?
We cannot plug every leak in our boat
Rising waters are sounding the alarm;
We cry within but cannot scream
Like the poor Fish circling in a bowl
We wake up frightened out of a dream
We are victims perhaps of a wicked foul;
Joys of sense shall soon recede
Faith alone then shall fill the void
Doubts and fears shall sow their seed
Whatever remains will then be destroyed;
We were given one candle of life to burn
We burnt it all in our way away pursuits
It goes dark long before our time and turn
It will take a lifetime now to regain our roots;
We no more know where this day may end
Or where this night may begin to crawl
We are now too far gone to return and blend
No one is left to receive our call;
No one has or can ever run from Life
Anymore than can deny his current plight
We are locked in conflict in a painful strife
We are groping in the dark for want of LIGHT;
We have lost all control as we sit and frown
Where once we laughed, today we cry
There is always something to wear us down
We need help to survive or else we will die;
They say someday we will know the truth
And truth shall blissfully set us free
For now it does not seem that smooth
We cannot afford to blindly agree.

About this poem
I wrote this poem looking at our indifference in the present crisis of all sorts, from pandemic to our exit from Afghanistan. It is very painful to see women and children scraed to death in the face of this takeover.
