The Prize
We seem to spend a lifetime,
to find success and yet;
We set aside internal peace,
for pleasures to be met.
While on our quest, who knows what for,
no clue to what we’ll find;
We only try to satisfy,
the thirst within our minds.
Our past has shown few promises,
our future fewer still;
But we stay on that tragic course,
to gratify our will.
Perhaps we’ve missed the answer,
while contemplating for;
Rewards to lead us through this life,
though we need so much more.
And as we place our highest bid,
on what we think we’re due;
I offer up a prayer for us,
for we’re in need of you.
