When

When all I need lies next to me in bed
And breath and life don’t measure up at all
When words to capture this have all been said
Yet echo through the eyes of which I fall
And touch the soul that dwells within it’s hall
Then two become the only ones to know
The depth and breadth and height their love enthralls
To char each form with coals of fire aglow
That melds them both within it’s savage flow
Then lifts them up onto the highest peak
Beyond the mundane reach of life below
And here lies everything we once did seek
Two hearts that beat as one within our chest
Relaxed into our spirit’s calming rest

About this poem

Created this for a Sonnet challenge. I used the a Spenserian Sonnet as a model. Love poems in general aren’t my thing but I am a hopeless romantic at heart.
