Knowing Less
Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)
People entitled to be undisciplined.
Lazy, disrespectful and negligent.
Only know what to them told.
By those less knowledgeable,
Who attempt to correct...
The ones tolerating with patience,
Their limitations to accept.
This acceptance of disrespect.
And tolerance of lazy negligence.
Has nowhere yet,
Been found to find cost effective.
Or a beneficial position taken,
To prove this movement improves...
The quality of life lived right by anyone.
However...
What has been done,
With effective priority...
Is a having many convinced to believe,
Their wants to wish and needs to feed...
Should be served over others.
Who are used to accuse and claim,
Their activities are the reason and cause...
Of everything diminishing.
Even the economy.
And yet...
Those accused and used to suspect,
Are less detected...
To crediting their dreams deferred.
With more loans to get.
Based upon,
The pretentiousness of having status.
Without proof of having the capability,
To repay what has been borrowed.
But allowed to deepen debts to credit.
'How are those known to be disparaged,
Disenfranchised.
Limited to live by restrictions.
Censored from telling the truth.
But claimed to blame for your failures?
How do you manage,
To keep this fiction believed?'
'The media!
The best invention yet,
To distract a thoughtless mind.
As quick as one chicken can be sold,
From coast to coast.
But if told taste better,
If flown to a remote island...
No one has ever heard before.
Guess who will pocket big bucks?'
'Who?'
'The advertisers.
And guess what?'
'What?'
'It doesn't have to be a chicken sold at all.
Just told what it is!'
'And this has what to do,
With the accusations placed upon others?'
'Not one thing.
But it will be done anyway.
Whether fried, baked, barbecued.
Or spiced up to heat,
To call the wings of a chicken buffalo.'
'I'm confused.'
'You?
Think of all the Buffaloes,
Left believing they can fly.
One lie bought to tell,
Can create devastating havoc.
And over what?
Missing celery and Bleu Cheese dip!
Ordered with wings that did not come.'
'Huh?'
'Knowing less,
Is the best way to keep peace.'
'That's why I watch TV.
I don't think about,
Where my chicken comes from.
Or what makes it crispy!'
