The child Inside of Me

i hurt for the child inside of me
for the child that thought true love
was real
for the child that thought that school
was her favorite place to be
the child that thought she would be so
so happy in life.

don’t get me wrong
life can be great.
it can be exciting
and scary
and fun
but it can also be sad
and emotional.
it can turn you and flip you around
but you will always land back on your feet

but for the little girl inside of me
it disappoints you.
i know it does.
i haven’t found love.
i’ve been hurt because of fake love
by more than just one person.
and that sucks.

but one day.
one day i promise you
you will be loved
loved like a fairytale movie
loved like the tv shows
loved like you’ve always wanted.
because one day
you’re going to meet someone amazing
and they are going to teach you
how love should really feel.

About this poem

This poem is about wishing as a child that life would be fairytales and rainbows, but it’s not. Being forced to grow up quickly damaged the child inside me. This is for her!
