The purple sunbird

Pramiti Das 2007 (Alipurduar)

On the Frosty winter day

When the sky is a little shed of grey,

I see her flying here and there

Without any sorrow or any tear

She is glittery blue with dark black body

She’s neither a cuckoo nor a noddy!

She looks like a messenger of heaven,

She wakes me up in the morning of seven!

She is beautiful, small and sweet

My morning calls are always her tweets

She sings when I am sad or hurt

She is that jolly little purple sunbird.
