THE LOVE I SHARE WITH MY HUSBAND
My Husband was a saint
When I met him
He behaves like one
Who has lived with spirits
I used to admire him
Of his goodly behaviour
But now he is no longer
A man of my Dream
At first when he proposed
To marry Mei was shy
Because I was too little to love
He caresses me with gifts
A man I do share everything
Is now an Enemy
He once told me how beautiful
I was in my youth
My mother loved him because
He was good
He loved to sing good songs
In appraiser to his god
Whenever he is with me
His eyes owns the key
To every woman's heart
Not because he was rich
I loved him just as I loved my
Soul when I met him
I loved to dance with him
Though he was tall
Like the iroko tree in the forest
Of love then was I in his arms
Like one who brings pleasure
He never watch crime scene
His mother was like the
Mother of the Holy one
That saved the world
From the wicked Spirit
He never look upon a maid
At day Light
He says my eyes are brighter than
The sun in Darkness
When he smile I feel
Am among the chosen vessels
Only of recent do I notice
That my husband is in love
With a woman whom
He says was an Angel
Sent from Above
Without spot or insult
He says I bewitched him
With witchcraft
And my face is clothed with charms
From the dark world
Which is below the earth
And water
He abuses me in his Religion
He says I belong to the dark
World of wickedness
That do not know
What is good among
Men living on Earth
He says the Supreme
Being will carry us to a Flame
Burning with Sulphur
Which no human can
Quench or survive
When he gets there
He says his Religion is
The best way to live with
He threatens to jail
Me for sorcery with
His name under my hand as
Am no longer a human
Oh my beloved husband
Whom I loved
I search for your touch
I could not find
I asked after you but
I was rejected by your people
Whom once loved me for beauty
They called me the Evil one
Who turns the Heart of Men
From Family
I was Embarrassed by those who once
Applaud me
How I wish I could see you again
The feelings I shared with you
Was Natural
I do not use charms
Or Sorcery as witches do
Though I do not attend
The gatherings were song are
Uttered to the Holy One
Who live above
The earth in
Majesty and Adoration
I do not know the name
Of the One who Live Above
But I believe in His Existence
Because I was brought up
Under a pagan house
I'm the Middle of the Forest
How do I know the Holy
One Above the Earth
How do I repent when
I have not sinned
How do I confess the
Holy Faith
They hold a book of
Ancient Wisdom and Truth
It contains the words of
The Holy One who was
Born of Human Nature
But live in the Spirit Abode
They kneel to pray to One
Who answers Prayer
Those who speaks Strange
Language stands on Wooden alter
While those who listen
Seats on furnished Chairs
Like kings upon their throne
They drop their riches at the
Front of those who speaks
Strange language and dances
Back in praises to the One
Who gave them riches
The Holy One who could not
Come down to take the riches
Blinds the people who drop
Their riches with wisdom
In all living conditions of
Human Existence
When I joined them I was the
Dullest among them
That could not recite
From the Holy Book which contains
Mysteries of Holiness
I was given to a man and woman
As my mother and father
Who never gave birth to me
Or knew how I was conceived
But I endured it with
Sharp faces watching me
In every of their gathering
They took me to am Ocean
With black people who has
The same Spirit with me
To wash my self
Without soap with people watching
Me with sharp faces
I was asked to accept the
Holy One whose mother
Was the leader of the women
And to recite a word
From the Holy Book
Which had many covers
Oh how I wish I was a man
That can do whatever pleases
Him to do
Without question
I don't not know how to summon
The god I pray to when kneeling
I was taken to a Dark room
Where the one who speak
Strange language live
He asked me to change
My name to one that
Beats the sins of womanhood
He shouted words at me
As one who Uttered abuses
I could hear him faintly
He wore a white rob
With thirty Nine buttons
Running down from his neck
He shouted words at me
And asked me to shout
Back at him without respect
He walks back to his clean
Chamber and brought a
Bottle filled with blood
And places it on my forehead
He shouted drink!
I was afraid to ask
Whose blood I was drinking
He shouted a phrase in
Strange accent
Then he said Amen!
I was wet in my eyes as one
Beaten by angry Bees
He was never in a bad
Mood when he serve
The black blood
In the cup! he gave me a white like
Yeast ready for baking
The one who speak strange
Language asked me
You are free
Like one in prison
Suddenly Suddenly I shouted
Like one chased by a ghost
Then was my eyes opened
Like as if heavenly light
Has fallen upon me
During the day
Now my husband addresses
Like a Queen in
A royal Apparel
He sings praises to me
Than his god whom
He said was Supreme
He now treat me like
A royal bride ready
For a marriage ceremony
He now chases after my soul
Like a hen
In search of food
He says am a Gift
From Above the ground
He once embarrassed me
Now he adores me
He despises me before
My family
And he once called me
The dung of Suicide
He now chases after my soul
Like flies before the
Living Corpse
As if I am now a holy Adulteress
Standing before the road ready
For business
I now know what light is from
The way my
Husband behaves before me
In submission
I am now the talk of the town
In the mouth of those who once
Me in public
Wishing to have me as
Relative
A woman who uses the clean
Spirit to cover her evil deeds that
Can not be Exposed when
The light open
Where have you been to
My soul during the rain
That sweeps away reproach..
