Dear Desire

I will write poems about you.
The way your hands will hold each other,
The way your lips will crush mine.
I will describe my favorite parts of you:
The curve of a hip bone,
The sigh of the sternum.
I will relish the way my lips feel against you
On the soft parts of your neck,
Of your stomach,
Of your thighs.
I will trace my fingers down to where we meet
And chase you with my breath,
My lips,
My tongue.
I will write things to you
And stow them in your pockets.
I will have you write your signature
And stare
Until I see it behind my eyes.
I will take your head in my hands,
Put my lips to your ear,
And let these words shoot down your spine.
