At Lekki Toll Gate,
See bad government trait,
Like blind date,
We know not our fate,
With injustice heavyweight,
Democracy the government castrate,
Sad! no one can checkmate,
Oh, Lekki Toll Gate!
A blood flood gate,
From 20 10 20 to date,
No justice for the late,
Oh at Lekki Toll Gate!
Hope amputate,
But our cry to God will resonate.
About this poem
This is a poem that talks about the killing of Nigerian youths who stage a peaceful protest against the bad government and poor administration of their country but rather than listening to their plight, the government through the armed forces opened fire on the youth at the Toll Gate in Lagos.
