The Wheel of life

Michelle Elise Shock 1988 (Winter Park, Fl)

Circular cycles that spin us around,
and around, and around,
‘til they pull us down.
Down to the depths of our conscious souls,
where we peel back layers to discover our roles.
Those which we play on the stages of life,
and the adventures of others in love and in strife.
We tear apart constructs of what we believe
we are constantly chasing and need to achieve.
This carousel spins us around and around,
and our circular souls bring us down to the ground.
To the Earth where we’re humbled, and try to begin
to understand why we are here,
to lose or to win?
