The Charm
My first love was,
awful,
I only desired her body,
Her external shape and mortal narcissism.
My second love was,
worse,
I only desired after her mind,
Her internal thoughts and social perceptions.
My third love was,
Intoxicating,
I only desired after her soul,
Her cosmological energy and divine touch.
Yet,
This last love I wish I never had,
For to have someone’s soul,
You are either a god or a devil,
And she helped sharpened,
My horns.
About this poem
I’ve been reading a lot of philosophical works on love as of late, and as a result I’ve looked back into my own past relationships with a more scrutinising outlook. This is my conclusion.
