Treasure of Misfortune
Wiping away the tears of elation on touching my teeny feet,
Gave everyone a great treat.
The atmosphere was full of light,
Yet my mom felt something wasn’t right.
Playing, laughing, like a moon I grew,
Not knowing how to stand, added to my life a black hue.
My family got the most unwelcoming news from the doctor,
Their princess will not be able to walk in her life ever.
Some blamed my mom, some cursed God,
To see the sympathetic looks for me, I couldn't afford.
Decided to make lemonade from the lemon that life gave me,
Respect and Success I wanted, no matter how difficult it would be.
Drowned myself into books from day and night,
So that the sash of “Excellence” is fit and tight.
Today, I stand here, not on my feet but on my goal,
Tears of pride from my mother’s eyes are hard to control.
Doesn’t want people to remember me for my disability,
But as a person with exceptional capability.
