I thought I knew.
Once I thought I knew you... wrapped and enveloped in the idea of you.
It was something I grew to look forward to.
Loving you was like a song, each melody giving honor and praise anew.
Loving you hurts more than being with you.
My memories are tainted by the lies you told as time unfolds while the memory of your touch starts to erode transforming into coals and your voice into daggers attacking me in the night.
Once I wanted to be your knight, not knowing the corruption I chose to protect.
The manipulations of a person I believed was just and righteous, but in hindsight the architect of the destruction that unfolded.
You were my light in the darkness and my peace in the storm.
I didn't know love could take so many forms.
Now all I have are tainted dreams.
Dreams of having a life with you.
A family formed from you and me.
But now it's time for the past to die.
I lay to rest my love of you.
A torture I don't wish to continue.
The passing of the love that formed for you.
The cremation of all I thought I knew.
