Sunken Shoal

A sea of broken dreams lies shattered on the sunken shoal.

Turning black, the sun-set sand dunes die, grain by grain.

A world of wanton chaos contrasts the solemn sea; the woeful waves ceaselessly scatter the shards far and wide.

The tide brought by streams of crimson contrast the dead black shoal and empty shell of what once was a lively sea.

Even the mightiest of waters may one day sing songs of emptied silence when the whining winds cease their baleful blows.

Silence rings loud across the hollow shoal, which itself also lies empty and hollow to the invisible tune.

About this poem

One of my personal favorites due to the vivid imagery and the symbolism thats open to interpretation. Also one of my first experiments with alliteration.
