Somewhere in Heaven
Charles Fields II 1955 (Fort Bragg, NC)
We send our prayers
As extensions
of our consciousness
Ascending angels
delivering pure thoughts
As our spiritual essence
is weaned.
From the shells
Which enclose our souls,
drift freely beyond
This island of awareness,
this come and go
Partial truth
of semi sensual existence
This now and then
breathing moment,
Guided, in part,
by will
with uplifting thoughts
Coming in tidal rhythms
within the universal flow
Directed, back to us
as if messengers of love,
returning from an eternal journey
To a separate source arising,
in waves From depths within our hearts,
In pure thoughts
focused
somewhere beyond
The singularity of i, me
to the place where we
Let our spirits merge and condense
To a state of higher being
At an oasis where all good spirits pool
Where we may freely gather
to bathe together naked
as our humble souls illuminated
With a spark in the supreme intelligence
Of our offering a gift born an eternity ago
When the shadow of the first kiss
Between mother and child
gave us a moment
Of perfect bliss
and we,
in its reflection
Knew something new
had become
A part
of what we had to share
compassion.
By someone who cared
And as
our ancestral family grew
To include all
our lost brothers and sisters
Making its presence known
More in troubled times
by those of us
Although we, too had little
We chose to share
of our belief in one another
That we would someday
join hands and hearts
In our conscious stream
Within a loving heart
fulfill our forefather’s dream
As that first child,
receiving that mothers kiss...
And one soul
armed with a knowledge
Greater than a kill
Transformed a tribe into a nation
Where those of common sense
grew stronger In a heartbeat,
sharing a humanity
Abandoning the prevailing course
of practical insanity,
isolation, and division
All, for the spoils of the wars
Which have only served the weak minded
Believing they were strong,
taking ownership...
Rather than finding
a course to be united
For a cause
worthy to be shared
As untold numbers
of believers in the light
Of a loving common sense
of humanity
Pass by us,
as the stars at night in spirit flow
To let us gain our bearings
that we, may join them
To become a legion
of subdividing voices,
For such time, as this.
Now, when needed most
Someday coming together as ghosts
Of our common past remain, with us
having shown In so many ways,
what to do and not to do
An illustration, we can identify with
The greatest clarity in perspective,
Reflecting against the whole of creation
And our understanding of a just setting
Where all of us may observe and choose
Where, now we stand
and let those who
By the practice of their choices
Be judged by the same,
let us not forget Those
having made the ultimate sacrifice
In their lives. For a belief, in life
Like some distant star gave living proof
In an obscure version of truth
A way, whose reward
was only to be taken,
In an afterlife, by children
not theirs, alone
In a place where humanity was
To have grown up
and moved on like clouds
Carried on a sunny day by the wind
Almost as in the essence of
An "i had a dream" dream
Transported to a better place
For our bodies and our minds
to rest awhile
And celebrate
each stage of our rise
To a more patient, understanding
of our will
becoming more aligned
to the source of happy endings
and so, we sing.
In the natural heartbeat
we all share.
A song within our hearts
Delivered, to us in a gentle spring
Which has travelled from afar
Here, to this place
which now we are contemplating
Navigation through the stars
We continue our lives
amidst this troubled world
Through the mists
somewhere towards eternity.
Like ripples
from a pebble
drop in a quiet stream.
A call to all the heavens
of our collective minds
To create a bridge
to that higher state within us
In our effort
to resonate and rise
From our subconscious
Spirituality,
To surface among us
Once again,
into our presence
And become
reality
