the day it started to end

We kept the engine running
It was January, so it was cold
We sat in the parking lot of the coffee shop where we met
I only just realized how ironic that is
We knew this was coming
We loved each other so why did we do it
Why were we ending things
I cried
I never cry in front of others, even you
Why did you let me leave
We tried to fix it but it only made things worse
And now you're gone
It's still ending
And I'm still hurting
