The Hotel I rented down the street
MrLongman00 1996 (Lagos)
Trying to escape the hurtful people I thought loved me.
I left to relief
This red-hued sanctuary seemed like a relief,
Until I received the keys to my hotel room, so brief.
Room 001—this number alone brought some delight,
Perhaps it's worth the hype, I thought that night.
The receptionist complimented me as "Radiant and mannish,"
A smile spread across my face, so lavish.
I was handed towels and shampoos, all they give,
Stepping inside, it felt different—everything was white including the interiors , I couldn't believe.
Approaching a wall frame with words so wise,
It said, "Though you can fight or not, don't compromise.
She stood tearless, with a serious expression so keen,
Moving to the next frame, an art piece unseen.
A woman with a sword held high in her hand,
The description read, "In every battle, take a stand.
I didn't win all the wars I fiercely fought,
But I had the courage to endure, that's what I've sought.
Sooner or later, victory came my way,
That belt I gave you, remember it today.
The chances are still yours, never back down,
Control your emotions, don't let life's stress drown.
The third frame spoke of my anxious start,
Entering this hotel, a trembling heart.
It said, "If you let life's stress control your view,
You shouldn't have entered, but you did, it's true.
Take charge of your emotions, let life play its part,
Kick life's goals, aim for your best shot from the start."
The last art piece, a message to behold,
In this hotel, a rehab for those whose hopes unfold.
Whatever you read on these walls, heed with care,
Lessons for life, we're here to help and share.
Take control, enjoy your stay through the night,
In this red hotel, where hopes take flight.
