Through the Eyes of a Poet

In the depths of my mind, a poem takes shape,
Words intertwining, like ribbons of silk drape.
A symphony of emotions, jumbled and raw,
A canvas of thoughts, waiting for me to draw.

I paint with language, strokes of rhyme and verse,
Each word carefully chosen, to captivate and immerse.
In this vast universe of letters and sounds,
I weave tales of love, loss, and rebound.

The stars in the night sky, the sun's golden rays,
Whisper to me secrets, that I long to portray.
I mold them into phrases, like clay in my hands,
Creating a masterpiece, that only I understand.

From darkness emerges a flicker of light,
A glimmer of hope, shining ever so bright.
The poem unfolds, like a river that flows,
Revealing emotions, that nobody else knows.

It dances on the page, with lyrical grace,
Leaving behind a trace, of its poetic embrace.
In this realm of words, I find solace and peace,
A sanctuary where my thoughts find release.

So I continue to write, to express and to share,
To let my soul sing, in the realm of pure air.
For a poem is more than just words on a page,
It is a reflection of the heart, a calmer of rage.

So let the pen glide, and the ink flow,
As the poet within me continues to grow.
With every verse, I am set free,
For in the world of poetry, I truly am me.

My name is Brokenlifetimes18 during my work but behind the poems and contests this is my better introduction! My name is Taylor Blair. I was born in Lock Haven Pennsylvania, and grew up in the small town of Bellefonte, Pennsylvania near State College which most of you may know as the area that Beaver Stadium aka Penn State Nittany Lions are from. I'm currently 21 years old and have been writing poetry for almost 9 years. I was 13 when I wrote my first poem. Most of my poems from age 13-18 and even some still today are focused primarily on mental health and how to cope with living with mental health disorders. Recently I have strayed a little away from mental health and this is one of my brand new poems. I hope everyone enjoys and even if I don't win, I hope to inspire every young poet out there to go for it! Being a poet, no matter what criticism you receive is one of the most enjoyable things I've ever done ☺️ more…
