SAROJINI

Dibakar Mondal 1994 (WEST BENGAL)

Ode

"Sarojini"

Sarojini, you...

Spreading palash flowers in the wind,

In the vast and pale sky,

Why do you come alone, resembling a leaf on a weary tree,
carrying the burden of despair?

In a certain spring,

Adorning your neck with purity,

A great hope awakens,

In the tired thoughts of the thorn.

I will take you

Millions of miles away on the path of the cosmos,

Amidst the starry brilliance,

You will find a language.
