Whispered Lullaby
In the slumber’s realm, where dreams are woven,
A vision of life, expectant and gold.
A tender bud within, a miracle unseen
A baby’s whisper, a future serene
I danced through moonlit meadows fair,
Cradling a secret beyond compare.
A radiant hope embraced my soul,
In dreams, a mother’s love took its toll.
Each night, I nurtured a world anew,
With tender strokes and love so true.
My heart was ablaze, a flame of desire,
To cradle life, to stroke its fire.
But morn’s arrival, with its cruel embrace,
Shattered illusion, left an empty space.
Awakening to a stark, barren truth,
A phantom pregnancy. a fading youth.
The tears cascading down my face,
A river of sorrow, a desolate place.
For months had passed, unbeknownst to me
A silent loss, s hidden tragedy
Oh, cruel fate, with your heartless strings,
A mother’s love will forever burn.
Through dreams and wakefulness, I'll hold you near,
In memories cherished, forever sincere.
For you, my little one, a whispered lullaby,
In the ethereal realm where spirits fly.
May your soul find solace, and eternal peace,
While I, In my dreams, my love released
So, I’ll carry on, with strength renewed,
Embracing life’s gifts, my spirit imbued.
And though the pain may never cease,
In dreams, my baby, you will find your peace.
About this poem
When I was 19 I had a miscarriage and it brought on a large amount of grief. I would have dream of, what if I had the baby. What would It be like? I would get lost in fantasy and joy only to awaken and realize my baby was no longer here with me.
