Trapped
Angel Romero-DiVenuti 1989 (Norfolk, VA)
Trapped,
nowhere to go to call "home".
My family abandoned me.
I'm in this world all alone,
nobody but me, myself, and I.
As I try to be strong,
I'm crying on the inside.
Slowly dying,
I feel like nobody gives a damn about me.
With God by my side,
I'll pull through.
I'm enrolled in school,
and I know God's got a plan for me.
I have a dream, and I know it will come true.
I just gotta stick it through.
About this poem
I wrote this poem on a bench at the park in my old neighborhood where my adoptive parents' live. I was homeless at the time, literally sleeping on the bench at the park.
