Disenchanted, My Friend
I wish you’d made
a bit more effort,
reached out your hand
my closest friend,
as I faced a storm
with old umbrella,
that had been
shattered by the rain,
trying to survive
the ending
of my love story.
Watched as my
soulmate walked away.
I’d lost the grip
on my forever
hence now was forced
to drown in pain.
My closest friend,
once you had front seat
to first viewing of this show.
You witnessed love story
from its beginning,
observed the flower
as it blossomed,
saw magic twinkles
in my eyes.
Thought that you’d see
that I was broken.
You knew me
like no other
and should have realized
I’d need some help
to stand.
That’s why I wished
for bit more effort
as I held on
to falling a feather,
coping with
the wrath of storm.
Instead you sent
to me best wishes.
Asked me to reach out
whenever I’d done
some healing from the pain.
After many moons,
today you called,
we did some chatting.
We spoke of news,
about the weather,
but never once about
my storm.
About this poem
About my closest friend as distance has grown between us.
