When You Took Your Last

I took my first breath
I opened my eyes and saw you
You read me stories at bedtime
And you sang to me, too
You were my first hero
Everything you told me was true
I would say, "Fic it, daddy"
And that's just what you'd do
You were there when I needed
An ear, a shoulder, a hand, or just you
You would answer any question
I ever brought to you

I remember these moments
They are written in the stars
Like singing a memory
Jennifer Juniper will always be ours
I remember all of our talks
When riding in cars
The pain of losing you
Tattoos like these scars

It's hard to imagine the future
When you're now in my past
But your spirit lives with me
Your memory will ever last
Photographs are like stories
A life come and now flashed
When certain melodies are played
 Pain and happiness are crashed
Happy now your suffering is over
But pain because I lost you too fast
I'll be okay, I'll just take a deep breath
I'll never forget when you took your last.
