Home
I long for a place that no longer exists,
A place where I was comfortable without deception and tricks.
Where the world was at my fingertips, feeling loved and no remorse.
Feeling pure and happy before I went off course.
It was easy and perfect with no anxiety or pain.
Splashing in puddles from the hot heavy Arizona rain.
Nightmares were rare and far between.
Sleeping so soundly from my bright and happy dream.
I miss the home that is no longer there.
To me, it seems, it just isn’t fair.
One day I hope to get back to that place.
Where my home was healthy and a safety base.
About this poem
I have always felt like I’m homesick, even when I’m home.
