To p
~~~~~~~
(To the memory of
Patrick Pearse.)
~~~
I have always wanted to converse with you,
Pádraig, for your writings fascinated me from
Early in my youth and, of course, the French
Author's book helped me to enter into your
Psyche in a most intimate way…
~
What you conveyed in ‘The Singer’, for instance,
Is a statement of messianic commitment:
Someone has to die for ‘the people’ !
Apparently influenced by Golgotha?
Yes, you were true to your word!
~
Your love of Ireland, its culture, and its freedom,
Via your writings permeated my heart, influencing
Me to a level which I cannot fully express. Yes,
You will never know the influence you had upon me -
In fact you are a part of my life…
~
May you continue to rest in peace alongside your
Comrades, Pádraig, and may your hopes for Ireland
Be one day realised. Alas, The Republic that you with
Your comrades Proclaimed still remains buried
Beneath Britain's military presence and those who Have abandoned although not willing to admit their Position. But nevertheless I assure you our day will Come!
