Into The Night

Quietly the lilac scent,
the ripple of the pond
touch an invisible chord of my heart,
and I inhale
silence-- deep, unspoiled.
Time stands still.

And like the Monarch-
thousand miles in flight,
from North does it depart,
so does my long-distance run
come to a stall, no sign, no moan.
I lay me down, stilled within
and wait for dawn.

Thank you for your encouragement. The Monarch is symbolic of my living in different lands as an immigrant.

Beautiful. From the first line I was transported into a garden with ponds. Love the simile " like a monarch. Keep writing..
