Palms
In the palms of whose hands,
Clapping and clasping snapping demands,
Does your life lie?
Brother killing brother,
Confounded by lies,
Who has sent us to take other lives?
Who holds the strings?
Who makes you dance and sing?
Who calls the shots from ivy towers?
With cities to hide them as their disguise,
If faced with death would quiver and cower,
Who only know language for telling lies.
Whose palms hold you; move you, control you?
As for me and mine we rest in God's palms.
He does not encumber, enslave or subjugate.
He extends His love and forever waits.
No compulsion; no revulsion,
Pierced palms opened wide.
In whose palms will you
Forever abide?
