The Family Portrait

I've been sorrowful over it all
It isn't a pretty picture I see
Not for my father nor mother
And certainly not for me
I love you my father
And by the grace of God
You are what you are
And I allow you to be
I'm proud to see
You've grown and changed
I'm glad twas you who fathered me
Tis true the family portrait
Not much from common view
Just a faded little snapshot
Captured a rare love for you
