Analysis of My Heart is Wounded
Melody Moreno-Vazquez 1960 (Ashland)
My heart is wounded, my soul is Displaced.
These are not tears.... but blood Running down my face.
You are possessed with a spirit of Destruction.
I try to talk to you, but you do not Listen.
My heart is now a wanderer, this Blood is the trace,
My heart is lost and wounded, and My soul has been misplaced.
I thought that you were right there Beside me.
I reached out for you, but you were Gone.
Now you see me standing here....all Alone.
Your memory delights my waking Eyes.
Inviting me to take heart and rise.
Sunlight brightens from the Window on the wall.
If I was not missing you, I would be Feeling nothing, nothing at all.
And my thoughts start flying upon Sunlight wings.
My bloody tears are dried by the Dawn of the morning.
Now my eyes are a stranger even To the amputee....
All is gone at the crack of dawn, Even my will to be.
A field of a thousand crucifixes is What I see -weathered and drying In the breeze.
I doubt I ever said anything that did Please your ears. - your fears Blocked them out.
It is as if I was doomed to the Casket.
Although I always tried....it just was Not adequate.
I know I have spoken a thousand Insane words to gain your Attention.
The prayers have all come and Gone, there will be no be Benediction.
My words once touched you, but Never held you, to hold you till I Could come.
How many times will I be allured by Our love's scent of death like Mourners to the grave....Jesus Came and spoke, but how many Did he save?
The scent of death may be my own - I might be breathing my last Breath.
I walk among the dying withered Flowers repeating curses by the Hour....but even the Devil never Comes...even he falters when he Sees what I have become.
To you I am a nonentity.
My song goes out silently unto the Wind that blows upon you, but you Turn away again. I sought your Love, but your love... I did not win.
