Analysis of Mental Citation
Scott Felgner 1979 (Ridgewood, New Jersey)
I loved the crowds that were thicker than water
I loved the smiles of my Guardian Angel’s Angel
I loved my own smile and my own innocence
I worked to give, so I could have your company in return
I’m drowning in my own existence
Reflecting to find out I have nothing
Everything I have now is out of pity or obligation
Mental Citation to those with the reaching hands
I have nothing left to give
Nothing left to return to you
My soul is tired, cold and black
Who will be the next to walk away?
