Analysis of Please

Erick Arvizu 1980 (Williamsburg, VA)

Hurt me to save me
It’s all I ask of you
Please spare me the pain
That loving you would do

We could be a testament
Of the greatest love
So please put your hands to my chest
With all of your might shove

I can survive the torment
Weather the storms I’ve created
With tattered sails and heart
Until sweet time has dissipated

Please know I’m a prisoner
Held captive by his fears
Traces of sea salt about me
Mere remnants of my tears

Say goodbye to me; please
Don’t give in to a kiss
I wouldn’t have the strength
To leave our love like this

Please hurt me badly
So that my anger can replace
All the thoughts I have of you
The very image of your face
