Analysis of Wealth

Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)

Wealth to have it.
Has little to nothing,
To have to do,
With having intelligence.
Or which degree one was given,
From an ivy league school.
Receiving donations given,
By parents connected to those...
Of acquired social status.
Who refer to themselves,
As conscious and aware philanthropists!

The ones more dependent upon,
Keeping the 'G' in greatness.
Flag waving patriots love to claim,
Is symbolic to the American way of life?
Has been those,
Of the lower and middle class.
Squeezed of high taxes to pay.
And using common sense.
Used on a daily basis.
While those brag about their wealth.
Using their capability,
To thieve, deceive and dupe.
Seldom have worked a day
For what they have.
Yet insist...
The ones who sweat,
Through blood and tears...
Those who feast upon greed.
And depend.
Are the ones threatening,
Their corrupted and selfish way of life.

Anyone restricted to living and working
40 or more hours per week.
To, at times. get paid bi-monthly.
Know for a fact,
A dollar to save everyday if they could...
Would never pay for pretensions to stay,
Imitating to charade wealth.
Or masquerading to have riches.
Beginning or the end,
Of pretensions to display them.
When midnight approaches.
To discover people rushing to get an uber,
Taxi?
Or someone to drive them home.
Back...not to the future, but to reality!
