Analysis of A Repenting Plea
Richard Newton Sherrer 1951 (Easton)
Return to the Lord your God,
For you stumbled because of sin;
Iniquities made you flawed,
Being corrupted within.
Take with you words and return,
Take away iniquity;
For salvation that you earn,
And spiritual ability.
For false gods will never save,
No horse riding shall we say;
For God rescues from the grave,
With mercy if we obey.
God heals their apostasy,
He will heal their backsliding;
For He wants intimacy,
Avoid wrath by forgiving.
The Lord will be like the dew,
And blossom like the flower;
If you take root to construe,
Rain blessings like a shower.
For His branches will spread out,
His beauty like olive trees;
His fragrance without a doubt,
Flowing through a gentle breeze.
You shall dwell in His shadow,
And shall flourish like the grain;
As your roots deepen below,
Being nourished by His rain.
What shall I do with idols?
For God will look after you;
Like horses without bridles,
Uncertain of which way through.
Who is wise please understand,
Guided by ways of the Lord;
By following His commands,
Transgressors to be ignored.
