Analysis of Betrayed

How could you do what you did
We meant more to each other than that
The pain was worse for the fact you hid
My bleeding heart felt pummelled like a worn doormat.

\No longer wanting to live
Ending the pain , the only thing on my mind
Leaving this world and all the hurt behind
Agony, grief and sorrow was all I had left to give.

\You broke my heart and destroyed my life
Not wanting to believe what my eyes saw
Feeling empty, it cut like a knife
Like tears on my face , love streamed out the door.

\Memories will always remain of what we once had
Now its gone , I feel so alone and sad.
We once spoke of eternal love
It has now flown away like a freed dove.

About this poem

This was one of mine that was in the original poetry.com site and was published in one of their volumes, several of which I purchased. It deals with a relationship breakup in November 1998, that at the time, was quite devastating, as they normally are. I found getting my feelings out this way, helps with the moving on
