Analysis of True Wisdom
Richard Newton Sherrer 1951 (Easton)
Who is wise and understanding,
By good conduct let Him show you;
Meekness of wisdom demanding,
Conversation of what is true.
But if you have bitter envy,
Selfish ambition in your heart;
Boasting not with the jealousy,
Or a false truth that could impart.
This is not wisdom from above,
Rather of earthly obsession;
Filled with a hate not with the love,
From a spiritual possession.
For where there is a jealousy,
A selfish ambition exists;
Vile practice makes you fussy,
While the temptation persists.
But wisdom from above is pure,
Peaceable open to reason;
Full of mercy roots are secure,
A sincerity through the Son.
For a harvest of righteousness,
That was sown in peace will reap peace;
Rewarded from God blessedness,
A thanksgiving that will not cease.
