Analysis of Freeing Them to The Stars

I gave some of my secrets to fire
They disappeared into the flames,
Parts of them became smoke
Part of them became ash-
They were my sacrifice to fire.

I gave some of my secrets to water
Sitting on the exposed roots of the
Ancient banyan tree by the river,
I whispered my secrets to her water.
The river caught them in her ripples and
Took them away towards the blue ocean-
Far beyond my horizon.

I gave some of my secrets to the wind
Some to the sweet breeze of summer evening
Some to the chilly wind of harsh winter
Some to the silky fresh spring air-
Wind took them away, far away-
Towards some unknown valley.

I gave some of my secrets to earth
I buried them deep underground
Earth accepted them in silence.
One day some of those seeds of secret
May sprout into tiny green seedlings
And spread their little leaves to the sun.
Some of the secrets I could not share-
All of them were imprisoned
Inside the dark interior of my heart.
Sometimes I heard
The faint flapping of their wings,
Their silent appeal for freedom.

Then on one moonless summer night
When the sky was full of stars,
I opened my heart’s door with a sharp blade-
Leaving behind a red sea of sorrow,
All those imprisoned secrets
Flew away joyfully towards the stars.
