Analysis of Love Rain

Bernadette Sannoh 1978 (Freetown)

The sound of your goodbye
My soul trembled, I tried not to cry
You said our love can't workout
Then you kissed my hand and walked out
My heart thundered in pain
The tears flowed with the rain
As I walked I didn't realize
The redness of my eyes I couldn't hide.

Mom looked through my eyes
Knowing me, asked me why
Tempted to tell the truth, I paused
Puzzled her that love's rain's the cause
Momma, when the clouds of sorrow gathers
The lightening strikes the heart asunder
Leaving one with a heartache
Which causes the tears in the eyes to break.
Momma looked me in the eyes
Said, child, you don't need to hide
Every eye at one time experience love rain
Only find a way to deal with the pain
Many years when your daddy left me
My tears flowed like a stream
But having you brought me joy
Life's beautiful, so child enjoy!
