Analysis of SHELTERED BY THE CROSS

My God, I kneel before thee, to confess thy brethren’s sins,
Those who took thy bless-ed oath and sung thy bless-ed hymns.
Those you house in palaces, with walls that drip in gold,
Protected from the laws of man, until they’re weak and old.
Those, my God you trusted, to celebrate your name,
Who used your cross to desecrate, and soaked your church in shame.
Those, who use your holy robes, to sow the seeds of trust,
Who hunt in packs with bibles, to feed their spiteful lust.
Those sheltered by thy bishops, who watched with blinded eyes,
As they groped our precious children, as they peddled blatant lies.
Those who touched the innocent, within the haven of your church,
While society and politicians, just sat pretty on their perch.
Those who preach your scriptures, and fake their righteousness,
As they mock the laws of decency, concealed within your diocese.
Vatican shelters the culprits, the criminals walk away,
Their victims have no remedy; they simply have no say.
True justice seems abandoned, as your congregation grieves,
As they pray for retribution, amongst your den of thieves.
The truth is sadly buried, with dead priests your church maintained,
Your tabernacle ransacked, and your crest forever stained.
My God, I kneel before thee, to confess thy brethren’s sins,
Those who took thy bless-ed oath and sung thy bless-ed hymns.
Those you house in palaces, with walls that drip in gold,
Protected from the laws of man, until they’re weak and old.

About this poem

Poem I wrote after being disillusioned by the misbehaviours of priests. Those who preyed on the innocent, destroying trust in the church.
