Analysis of Fire Flies

Richard Groff 1957 (Pottstown, Pa.)

It’s 22 for me and you
We’ll always be together
We’ll take to flight true sons of light

Like angels without feathers
They fly so far; they shine like stars
The brightest in the heavens
They do what’s best; they’ve come to rest

In Jesus’ holy presence
Without a chair they worship there
Their bodies don’t grow tired
There is no blood left in the mud
Their dates do not expire
