Analysis of Grace and Peace Be to You All
Richard Groff 1957 (Pottstown, Pa.)
When will you come home my son?
The day is waxing thin
Invite your friends to come along
That they might enter in
As the night grows closer
I’ll be watching from My hill
To see your feet approaching
Then I’ll run to do My will
Place a robe upon him
On his finger put a ring
And get some sandals for his feet
While I’m embracing him
I’ll sing a song of love to you
And slay the fatted calf
We’ll eat and dance and sing again
Hearts filled with joy we’ll laugh
Because he loves me says the Lord
It’s I who’ll rescue him
I’ll protect him if he slips
And lift him up again
I’ll look into his heart to find
The things that make men fall
Then I’ll remove them every one
Yes, I’ll remove them all
Thank you, Father for your Son!
