Analysis of Stand Firm
Richard Newton Sherrer 1951 (Easton)
We ought to give thanks to God,
Brothers beloved by the Lord;
Being the firstfruits to laud,
Chose to be loved and adored.
Because God has from the start,
Sanctified by the Spirit;
Believing truth in the heart,
Through salvation in merit.
He called you through His Gospel,
Obtain glory of the Lord;
For preaching to the people,
And teaching in one accord.
Hold on to the traditions,
Stand firm in which you were taught;
About sinful remissions,
For forgiveness that as sought.
May our Lord Jesus Christ,
And the Father of the Lord;
Comfort in the sacrificed,
Good hope through grace not ignored.
Have comfort within your heart,
Establish them in His Word;
All good works that you take part,
Remembrance in what you heard.
