Analysis of The Jury

Seated sacrifice for justice without brotherhood
alone
craving inwardly a divine quickening; wordless
praying to be discreetly possessed by a bold discerning spirit
quick before argument

Ardent sprites; invitees bearing radical minds upon insightful gifts
surrogates
a needed precious tendency spinning cobwebs that thread exact truth from between falsity
ingredients honorable to preside on mortals’ impartial utterances

Upon disposed twisted arguments to defeat the day’s
unrighteousness
the guilty blinks swallowing galls on air balls
sub-judice, the innocent awaited feverish justice in dilemma
surreal in fate hanging on unbalanced scales in the jaws of jury

In the affairs of men that skinned taboo
prized
judgement seem a sweet deliverance without fears proudly
when impartial deeds outside offerings prevail
the jury’s fears fairly evaporate without recourse

Pride, perjury and prejudice energetic immorality
woes
never strung in one sauce onto prophets’
security of secreted fears in just hands with sentiments
betrays orphaned conscience, befriends dishonesty in dark minds

The guilty albeit sanely fired in partial judgement
inhumane
arid act, belittled integrity, flailed justice
in chambers enslaves more flesh and blood than laws
set desperate grues as lifetime enemies for the jury’s comfort

Argued adultery hurts principalities in broad daylight
worse
the living and even the dead’s friendship more than twice
alter hour splashes of bloodied mud on a bride’s snowy gown
deeds that guiltily hunts recessed viscus in the darkest bowel

Too just to tell heartbeat skipping fears
bedded
a revolution by decadence on sudden fright
and the guilty fearfully falls upon the just in purdah
so comely in the judges' eyes awaiting trial

Blunder in worries; still, and forcefully wearied before dawn
trembles for the jury’s disquiet return while
the cursed hop silently fagged in fears of perjury
not alone, the jury's bravery flounders in bond beside injustice

What choice is there to worship; man and religion or
conscience and law
ignorance and skepticism afforded no panacea in the mixture
the loot of partiality a distasteful latitude
between ethics and justice: blood and judgement

The jury's pride a matter of integrity and honesty on the run
bemused
in sovereignty before truth and disposal, oaths and statute
staring down hugely from Moses's Ten commandments
guileless above a blinded scale with a dagger held between earth and heaven

The righteous travail with a cry of miscarriage
disinherited
before the end and the jury, a brother between the claws of law
bound footless but brave digesting poisoned pies
offering equality, conscience and liberty to an empty world

About this poem

The jury: Alone craving extra abilities to see and know hidden truth instantly. A most needed aid to deliver just verdict with boldness when the defense and prosecution is done. His wrong decision: the innocent, though accused could be punished unjustly. Minds would be at rest if truth and justice prevailed to the acceptance of everyone. Pretending, ignoring the reality and doing without integrity and honesty made matters worse in judgement. Justice, law and order are before the jury - his travail. Alone with his imaginations, faced with the task of righteousness and infallible decisions in the presence of many fazing odds: he is confronted by fate of the guilty, the innocent, a docked brother and his very self. The enormous weight of sentencing the wrong fellow could be forever. Almost overwhelmed; by emotions, his conscience seemed to be on trial as well. But must do right.
